Sulla Grazia e la Forza come categorie non binarie
Gli artisti Caro Ruoff e Steef Kersbergen discuteranno di grazia e forza non come forze opposte, ma come aspetti intrinsecamente intrecciati nei processi di trasformazione. Riflettendo sulla loro performance All there is left to do, presentata a TDanse, e attingendo ad altri lavori precedenti, esploreranno l’intimità nella performance radicata nell’esperienza vissuta di una transizione di genere non binaria. Questo crea uno spazio in cui la vulnerabilità diventa al contempo gesto poetico e sottile forma di resistenza.
La grazia si manifesta non solo come eleganza o leggerezza, ma anche come la delicata capacità di rimanere presenti nell’incertezza, nel ritmo della vita, nei silenzi condivisi tra amici e partner, o nel lirismo di una poesia.
Le loro parole e la loro arte abbracciano l’intermedio, il divenire, senza pretendere una risoluzione. Allo stesso tempo, la forza appare – non attraverso il dominio, ma attraverso la resistenza. La forza di attendere, di amare senza garanzie, di testimoniare e di essere testimoni nel lento processo del cambiamento. Questa è una forma radicale di forza: silenziosa, radicata e profondamente relazionale.
Caro Ruoff e Steef Kersbergen ci invitano a ripensare questi concetti. Il loro lavoro sfuma le linee tra sostegno e abbandono. On Gracefulness and Strength as Non-Binary Categories
Artists Caro Ruoff and Steef Kersbergen will discuss grace and strength not as opposing
forces, but as inherently intertwined within processes of transformation. Reflecting on their performance, “All there is left to do” presented at TDanse, and drawing from other previous works, they will explore intimacy in performance rooted in the lived experience of a non-
binary gender transition. This creates a space where vulnerability becomes both a poetic
gesture and a subtle form of resistance.
Gracefulness manifests not only as elegance or ease but also as the gentle ability to remain present amidst uncertainty, within life's rhythm, in shared silences among friends and partners, or in the lyricism of a poem.
Their words and art embrace the in-between, the becoming, without demanding resolution. At the same time, strength appears—not through dominance, but through endurance. The strength to wait, to love without guarantees, to witness and be witnessed in the slow process of change. This is a radical form of strength: quiet, grounded, and deeply relational.
Caro Ruoff and Steef Kersbergen invite us to rethink these ideas. Their work blurs the lines
between support and surrender. They explore a form of art that is both gentle and resilient, as soft as it is powerful, suggesting that in the face of change, grace sometimes lies in patience—and strength is found in staying still, allowing them to coexist.
